Stark County Rifle Leagues

There are a variety of rifle matches conducted under the heading of the Stark County Rifle League, a division of the Canton McKinley Rifle & Pistol Club.  Open Bolt Indicators are required for all events.

SMALLBORE RIFLE

Ø      Winter League – From October through March the league operates a 20 week program of three position matches on Wednesdays starting at 4:00 PM using the A17 target.  Positions fired are prone, standing, and either sitting or kneeling (individuals over 70 years old may shoot all prone and anyone may chose to shoot all standing).  Participants are split up into teams and compete for both individual and team honors.  A handicap system is used to “level the playing field” for the teams.  Rifles for this league are restricted to .22 caliber rim fire and must be single loaded.

Ø      Indoor Bench Rest – From November through March monthly indoor bench rest matches are held one Saturday a month, starting at 9:00 AM.  A custom designed target is used for these matches that challenges the equipment, ammunition and skill of the participants.  Rifles for these matches are restricted to .22 caliber rim fire and must be single loaded.

Ø      Summer League – From May through September the league operates a diverse program of matches on Wednesdays starting at 4:00 PM.  On alternating weeks a 100 yard, 20 shot prone match is conducted followed the next week by a 50 yard three position match and a 25 yard “sporter” standing match.  Rifles are restricted to .17 and .22 caliber rim fire.

Ø      Outdoor Bench Rest – From April through October monthly outdoor bench rest matches are held one Saturday a month, starting at 9:00 AM.  The conventional 50 yard smallbore target is used for these matches which are fired at 100 yards.  Rifles are restricted to .17 and .22 caliber rim fire.
